I have re-published two books I originally printed some years ago.
Albuera - The Fatal Hill D'Urbans Report on the Campaign and Battle of Albuera Check out my website for details. - LINK I am now working to complete the editing of the Machell letters. He served briefly in the later stages of the Peninsular War, losing his life at the siege of San Sebastian. Machell served under Charles William Pasley in the UK. Pasley was formulating his ideas on the training of officers and Sappers and Machell wrote on this process that led to the formation of the School of Military Engineering.
I hope to have this out before the end of the year. The latest edition of Casemate (No 104, September 2015), the magazine of the Fortress Study Group contains an article by me on the British use of telegraphs in Portugal in 1810. It is a beautifully presented journal and well worth reading. Thanks to the FSG for publishing the article.
This report was produced by the Spanish General Staff after the battle and provides a Spanish view of the battle.
It was originally published in Spanish in June 1811. It can be purchased form Amazon at the link below: LINK This book is available on Amazon. It is paperback around 100 pages long.
Please follow the link for more details - LINK I have just published this using Amazon's Createspace. The book is soft back and 150 pages. Price is $14.99 and will be around £10 on the UK site.
It can be ordered below from the Amazon UK website; Link It will of course be available from the other Amazon websites. I have completed the first draft of the Mulcaster diary. At the moment it looks like I will self-publish on Amazon, using their Createspace system. I am waiting for the first printed proof to be delivered. Hopefully it will be available this month.
The first two reviews have appeared on Amazon. So far, very positive. There are a number of other reviews underway (that I know of) including, The Society for Army Historical Research, the Napoleon Series; the Fortress Study Group and the British Commission for Military History. That's going to be some serious scrutiny!
I have sent copies to Lieut-General Mans (Chief Royal Engineer) and Brigadier David Southall (Commandant of the School of Military Engineers). I hope they a favourably impressed as well. This is my next project which has been nearly finished for about three years!
I hope to have it available by the end of summer 2015. The final piece of the book will be recording his activities from the end of the diary in September 1810 until his death at Badajoz in April 1812. |
